Protection and promotion are the key twin features of most product packaging. These control strength, printability and, most crucially, protection against water, especially water vapour and a host of gases and contaminations which can radically change the shelf life of many products. Almost invariably, the single most critical factor behind all of these is the vapour permeability of the packaging.
Versaperm’s latest vapour permeability measurement equipment has made testing and measuring this faster, easier and a whole lot more flexible.
Versaperm systems can test virtually any packaging material or container – from papers and coatings through to laminates and plastics, and from cartons and tubes through to cardboard and tubes. The company produces both universal and packaging specific systems, but all are fast and accurate, with optional multiple chambers and sensors to give flexibility.
They can be use in both development and quality control roles.
The system can also measure the vapour permeability of complete and finished packages and containers. This is often critically important as manufacturing processes, such as thermoforming, folding, moulding etc. can easily change the package’s vapour permeability by a factor of four.
As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm can provide a technical consultancy service and a permeability testing service for companies where the need to test packaging or materials is on an irregular basis.
